<div>This subject will address the mechanisms of disease processes. The general principles of pathobiology are covered with particular reference to the changes at the level of cells, tissues and organs such as necrosis, inflammation, repair, haemostasis, genetic disorders and neoplasia. This subject will explore the basic concepts of physiology and pathology to explain how the normal functioning of the human body can become altered in the disease state. Disorders affecting major organ systems in the body, namely the renal, endocrine, reproductive and gastrointestinal will be studied. Having examined the basis for abnormal function in disease, we then explore how drug treatments may be used to help restore normal function. In addition to the theoretical basis for drug intervention, the practical considerations of managing these treatments will also be discussed. </div>
