Description

This subject will extend theoretical knowledge in speech and language disorders in children. Emphasis will be on the application of evidence-based practice to optimize functional communication and quality of life. The subject will explore how evidence from a range of contexts applies to rural, remote, tropical and Indigenous communities.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this subject, graduates will be able to:
1.
Formulate speech pathology assessments and interventions for complex paediatric clients using advanced clinical reasoning skills and applying current evidence
2.
Effectively communicate about complex cases with peers at an advanced level
3.
Critically appraise current evidence for the diagnosis, management and evaluation of speech pathology paediatric practice at an advanced level
4.
Measure and critique the outcomes of interventions for complex paediatric caseloads, particularly in rural remote, tropical and indigenous contexts at an advanced level
