Description
This subject will provide students with an understanding of how fisheries operate, their footprint and impacts, and how fish reach human communities. It will involve the analysis of global fisheries by leveraging data from various databases and vessel monitoring technologies.

Upon completion of this subject, graduates will be able to:

Critically evaluate the effect of fishing gear on target and non-target organisms and ecosystems via data analysis, literature reviews, and written reports
2.
Describe the complex supply chain of fisheries and methods that can be used to monitor and track products through it
3.
Demonstrate familiarity with the spectrum of fishing gear design, development, and deployment and with global fisheries databases and their potential uses for research and policy settings
