EE5510 - Advanced Electrical Engineering Design

This is a capstone design project for Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Electronic Systems and Internet of Things Engineering. Project topics are selected based on discipline and campus expertise. The subject provides students with experience in applying contemporary engineering design methods. Students work to address a complex problem, apply a whole systems approach to the design, and critically reflect on the outcomes and implications of their work. Students also develop technical skills that are related to their project in order to deepen their engineering competencies.

Critically analyse the developed design and/or selected case studies, respond to contemporary issues, and independently investigate topics related to a chosen design project


Manage the delivery of an engineering design project while showing leadership, ethical conduct, and social and professional accountability


Develop electrical, electronic, or IoT-related engineering designs that address a broad problem, while critically evaluating a wide range of technical factors, the use of standards, sustainability, quality assurance, and economic and environmental considerations


Effectively communicate, in professional and lay domains, the technical and non-technical aspects of the design project
