The Career Counselling workshop, offered as part of the delivery of this subject, provides further opportunities to practice career counselling techniques across diverse client and career contexts. This interactive two-day workshop utilises the learning triad counselling approach which includes active learning and observational exercises, allowing students to develop and apply their skills to complex career counselling scenarios. The feedback that students receive during the workshop and throughout the course will enable them to develop the knowledge of the Career Industry Council of Australia (CICA) Professional Standards, including a specialised competency of applying career counselling skills and theoretically grounded career counselling modalities to diverse clients and their dissimilar needs.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this subject, graduates will be able to:

Apply specialised communication techniques , advocacy and decision making strategies in a range of complex and diverse client and stakeholder contexts.
2.
Critically compare and analyse several foundational and contemporary counselling theoretical approaches, including Humanistic and Solution-Focused, Cognitive and Behavioural, and Constructivist in their application to diverse career concerns.
3.
Develop cohesive and effective case conceptualisations and use career theories to develop a personal approach to career counselling.
4.
Use various counselling microskills and culturally appropriate techniques to support diverse clients across career development contexts.
