Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this subject, graduates will be able to:
1.
Discuss and reflect on the learning strengths and needs of students from diverse linguistic, cultural, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds
2.
Define and implement the concepts and structures underpinning the Australian Curriculum: English as an Additional Language or Dialect, particularly those aspects that relate to oral language and speaking
3.
Set learning goals that provide achievable challenges for students of varying cultural backgrounds, abilities and characteristics
4.
Implement and justify strategies for the effective teaching of oral language and literacy and numeracy skills to Indigenous children in early learning and/or primary and secondary school contexts
5.
Apply EAL/D assessment tools to identify specific areas of grammar/language needed to develop in children from birth to five years old and for explicitly teaching English language to students from six to 18 years of age
