ED2093 - Early Childhood Mathematics and Numeracy 1

The subject examines current national and state curriculum frameworks and policies in mathematics education, and contemporary approaches to teaching primary-aged children in 21st-century classrooms. The subject develops pre-service teachers&#39; professional knowledge and competencies to effectively and equitably teach mathematics, and develop diverse students&#39; positive dispositions towards numeracy. Upon completion of this subject, pre-service teachers will develop mathematical and pedagogical content knowledge, and an appreciation of ICT tools to facilitate and showcase learning. Pre-service teachers will demonstrate an understanding of a range of contemporary and research-informed pedagogies and assessment practices for teaching mathematics and numeracy, and the use of evidence to inform pedagogical decision-making through differentiated instruction.
