Upon completion of this subject, graduates will be able to:

Provide a conceptual framework for the evaluation of biosphere patterns through deep time, based on the fossil record
2.
Discuss evolution and ecology through deep time
3.
Interpret common fossil categories and assemblages and understand their use as indicators of past biological systems and of episodes in Earth history
4.
Interpret fossils preserved in sedimentary rock systems for broad scale evidence of past environmental succession
