Students study the development and design of cryptographic systems as mathematical models to communicate secure information via insecure channels. the subject provides opportunities to review various classical cryptosystems, view the methods used for cryptanalysis and provides an introduction to the application of cryptography skills in the modern world. It includes relevant material on number theory, probability, and abstract algebra, in addition to the description of conventional (symmetric) and public-key (asymmetric) cryptographic systems, hashing, digital signatures, authentication systems, and key-exchange protocols.
