This course is designated as an exit award only and is not eligible for direct admission. It is conferred solely upon students who meet the entry requirements for early exit from a higher award.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, graduates will be able to:
1.
Demonstrate broad and coherent understanding of discipline knowledge, practice and engagement with depth in the National Professional Standards for Teachers
2.
Demonstrate broad and coherent understanding of underlying principles and concepts, and teaching and learning approaches for the tropics in the areas of Indigenous education, education for sustainability, rural and regional education
3.
Review critically, analyse, consolidate and synthesise professional knowledge, practice and engagement to enhance outcomes for diverse students
4.
Communicate discipline knowledge clearly and coherently through oral and written modes to colleagues and stakeholders in the field of education
5.
Identify and solve problems and make informed decisions in diverse educational contexts with well-developed judgement and initiative
Structure
72 credit points of study completed in a Bachelor of Education degree at James Cook University comprising:
- Maximum 27 credit points of relevant study passed at Level 1
- Minimum 24 credit points of relevant study passed at Level 2
- Minimum 21 credit points of relevant study passed at Levels 3 or 4
Credit
Students may apply for a credit transfer for previous tertiary study or informal and non-formal learning in accordance with the Credit Transfer Procedure.
Credit Expiry & Other Restrictions
Credit gained for any subject shall be cancelled 20 years after the date of the examination upon which the credit is based if, by then, the candidate has not completed this course.
Maximum Credit Allowed & Currency
48 credit points - Credit will be granted only for studies completed in the 10 years prior to the commencement of this course.
