Subject PC6300: Safe Prescribing for Pharmacists is accredited with conditions by the Australian Pharmacy Council.

Identify, evaluate, and apply established evidence and approved clinical protocols in the provision of care and education listed within a Pharmacists expanding scope of practice 

Apply principles of accountable prescribing to the provision of integrated safe, accountable, and culturally sensitive patient care, utilizing a collaborative approach with patients, their carers, and other healthcare professionals, underpinned by the biopsychosocial model of medical assessment

Reflect on current skills, knowledge and attitudes, and plan ongoing professional development.

Conduct an appropriate consultation and/or medical history, physical examination, and order and interpret appropriate pathology and investigations, to develop a working diagnosis within scope or refer out-of-scope patient presentations.

Document and communicate treatment options, agreed plan, and monitored progress with patient, carers, and patients’ other health care provider. 

Systematically plan safe, collaborative, effective, client centred, clinical care and self-management education for conditions within the identified scope of the Pharmacist

Applicants must meet the AHPRA Registration Standard: <a href="https://www.pharmacyboard.gov.au/documents/default.aspx?record=WD15%2f16880&amp;dbid=AP&amp;chksum=px4gMFl360IujXiFqasp3g%3d%3d">English Language Skills. </a> Evidence of current general registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia will satisfy the Minimum English language proficient requirement.

<li>Successfully undertake 120 hours of Learning in Practice</li>
<li>Successfully complete all assessment tasks.</li>
<li>Successfully pass the End-of-program OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination).</li>
</ul>
Students must identify a suitable Designated Prescriber to facilitate the completion of relevant assessment tasks in the course.
Students are strongly encouraged to purchase the following equipment:
<ul>
<li>A penlight torch.</li>
<li>A Littmann Classic III stethoscope</li>
<li>An otoscope</li>
</ul>
