Structure

The Career Industry Council of Australia (CICA) has endorsed Graduate Certificate in Career Development delivered by James Cook University as meeting the Professional Standards for Australian Career Development Practitioners for a period of 3 years from May 2023 to May 2026.

Develop and implement creative solutions to practical career and world of work challenges, showcasing strong independent thinking and a collaborative approach in discussing ideas and insights. 

Utilise and integrate career development theories, career assessments, career counselling and other career interventions within the context of professional standards in career development

Demonstrate technical proficiency in gathering, analysing, and interpreting multiple sources of data from career development and cognate disciplines to address and respond to complex issues within career development professional practice.

Identify, critically assess and evaluate the effects of historical and contemporary changes in the world of work environment, employment trends and the institution of work. 

Evaluate and interpret information and develop new insights grounded in the integration of theoretical concepts, client diversity, ethical and cultural frameworks, as well as research methodologies within the career development discipline.

Identify and build on personal strengths, skills, and current knowledge, while integrating commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practices in career development. 

Articulate and present specialised, complex ideas and insights from the career development field of research and practice to diverse stakeholders.
